One sheet, political campaign poster for George McGovern's 1972 presidential run.
The abstract expressionist design was created by American artist Sam Francis. Francis used splashes and drips of vibrant color, a style for which he was well known.
The poster was a form of political support for McGovern, the Democratic nominee who ultimately lost the election to incumbent Richard Nixon. Other artists, such as Andy Warhol, also created posters for the campaign. |
