McGovern 72
One sheet, political campaign poster for George McGovern's 1972 presidential run.
The abstract expressionist design was created by American artist Sam Francis. Francis used splashes and drips of vibrant color, a style for which he was well known.
The poster was a form of political support for McGovern, the Democratic nominee who ultimately lost the election to incumbent Richard Nixon. Other artists, such as Andy Warhol, also created posters for the campaign.
