Poster was received mounted to two sheets of unidentified machine made paper. Adhesive used in previous mount was an unidentified water-soluble paste. Poster was soaked between two sheets of Mylar for approximately 15 minutes. The first sheet of paper was then removed using Teflon scrapers; once the under layer of adhesive and paper was exposed, a second application of water was allowed to soak through and the final layer of paper was removed. The adhesive was very thick and remained sticky throughout the process - to try and remove it entirely could have compromised the integrity of the poster. The decision was made to allow some of the original paste to remain, and to not separate the three sheets of the poster. The poster was then mounted as one piece. |
