RECEIVED FROM CLIENT 17/3/11, researched on that date, art was removed from stretcher assembly by removing staples. Paper and canvas were soaked, face down in cold water for 30 minutes and original canvas backing was removed and retained. Paper was treated with orvus (surfactant) and mild chloramine-T solution to reduce tide line at bottom, thoroughly rinsed in filtered water and re-sized with special gelatin and allowed to cure for 2 days. Original canvas was trimmed to remove rough edges and pasted (wet) onto the verso of a stretched "10-10 Army-Duck" canvas (temporary, interim stretcher assembly). Paper was re-washed and mounted to the front of new canvas (using a light table for registration with the original canvas) and allowed to cure for 4 days. Art (now 3 layers) to be trimmed from interim stretcher assembly and re-stretched over original stretcher bar assembly in original "gallery-wrap" style. |
