CRATE LABEL. ATTACHED TO A WOOD BLOCK WITH AN UNKNOWN ADHESIVE THAT IS NEITHER SOLUBLE IN WATER NOR ALCOHOL. |
AFTER ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE FROM WOOD BLOCK WITH ALCOHOL AND THEN WATER TO NO AVAIL, THE ENTIRE SURFACE WAS TREATED WITH A STEAM PROCESS. THE LABEL WAS LIFTED FROM THE WOOD USING METAL TOOLS AND WAS THEN MOUNTED TO OKAWARA PAPER USING A GELATIN PROCESS. DUE TO THE EXPOSURE TO HIGH HEAT AND STEAM, THE IMAGE BECAME VERY CLOUDED AND DISTORTED. A KLUCEL TREATMENT WAS APPLIED AND THE RESIDUE WAS REMOVED WITH A WEBRIL. |
