Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin - Before (Poster) Concert Poster This is an original Bill Graham concert poster (cataloged as BG-155) from January 1969. Designed by artist Randy Tuten, the piece advertises a historic three-night billing at the legendary Fillmore West in San Francisco. Key Facts About the Poster & Concert • The Date: January 9, 10, and 11, 1969. • The Lineup: Country Joe & the Fish headlined the event, with Led Zeppelin billed second, and blues legend Taj Mahal opening. • Historical Significance: This weekend marked Led Zeppelin's very first live appearance in the San Francisco Bay Area, occurring just days before their self-titled debut studio album was officially released. Because they were still relatively unknown in the United States, they played as a supporting act under Country Joe. • The Artwork: Tuten built the psychedelic lettering around an image of a classic automobile. He later noted that he chose the car because he felt Led Zeppelin was quickly proving to be the powerful "new Cadillac of rock & roll". • Light Show: Visual effects for the concert weekend were provided by the famous San Francisco psych-rock light collective, the Brotherhood of Light.
