Artists: Designed by the iconic poster-art duo Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley.Venue: The Avalon Ballroom located at Sutter and Van Ness in San Francisco, California.Dates: September 23 & 24, 1966.The "Canceled" Rarity: While these posters were printed and distributed, the actual weekend shows were canceled because Howlin' Wolf did not perform. Big Brother & The Holding Company ended up playing the dates with a replacement opening act. Because the full bill never happened and production runs were minimal, surviving vintage copies are highly sought after by rock memorabilia collectors. |
