New Zealand Fishing

New Zealand Fishing - Before (Poster) One sheet vintage tourism poster titled "For the World's Best Sport, New Zealand". Illustrated by Maurice Alec Poulton (1909–1983). Created in 1936. Published by the New Zealand Government Tourist Department to attract international fly fishing enthusiasts. Features a pipe-smoking angler wading knee-deep in a crystal-clear river while fly fishing for trout. During the early 20th century, legendary authors like Zane Grey famously labeled New Zealand "The Angler's Eldorado," turning trout fishing into a primary driver for luxury international tourism. This campaign targeted travelers from North America and Europe by highlighting the country's pristine, uncrowded waters and massive trout populations.
