New Zealand Mitre Peak

New Zealand Mitre Peak - Before (Poster) One sheet vintage travel poster titled "Mitre Peak, Milford Sound, New Zealand". It was created around 1936 by the prominent mid-20th-century New Zealand commercial artist Leonard Cornwall Mitchell (1901–1971). Published in Wellington, New Zealand by G.H. Loney, the Government Printer, for the Government Tourist Department. Pure Art Deco utilizing bold geometric planes, stylized landscapes, and clean typography to highlight natural geometry. The central focus is the razor-sharp profile of Mitre Peak rising above a mirror-still fiord, bordered by a lower-left logo depicting a M?ori chief. Originally distributed in a run of roughly 5,000 prints to market global travel to Fiordland. The design was also adapted into a miniature poster stamp during the same era.
