Marlborough Sounds New Zealand - Before (Poster) One sheet vintage New Zealand tourism poster advertising the Marlborough Sounds, located at the top of the South Island. Created by prominent New Zealand commercial artist and graphic designer Leonard Cornwall Mitchell (1901–1971). Designed circa 1934–1937. Produced for the New Zealand Government Tourist and Publicity Department (indicated by the red "Govt Tourist Dept" logo in the bottom-left corner). Originally printed by G. H. Loney, Government Printer in Wellington. Features a distinctive foreground frame of native trees and ferns looking out across the blue water towards the hills, with a historic steamship cruising through the sound.
