Return Of The Jedi

Return Of The Jedi - Before (Poster) UK Quad rare 1983 British teaser poster for Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. Designed by the legendary artist Drew Struzan, this iconic artwork was used for early "advance" promotional material before the film's final theatrical release. Poster History and Features The Title Change: This poster design is famous for its direct connection to the film's original title, Revenge of the Jedi. George Lucas initially chose "Revenge," but changed it to "Return" just weeks before release, realizing that revenge was not a Jedi trait. While your poster has the final "Return" title, it uses the exact same artwork as the recalled "Revenge" versions. The Lightsaber "Error": In this early marketing art, the lightsaber colors are famously swapped: Luke Skywalker is shown with a red saber, while Darth Vader has a blue one. This was a design choice from early concept stages and intentionally used to tease the possibility of Luke falling to the Dark Side. Unique Elements: The poster features the tagline "The Saga Continues... In Your Galaxy Soon". The central imagery of Luke and Vader's duel was actually adapted from reference photography for The Empire Strikes Back, specifically the carbon freezing chamber scene.
