Background and Context.
It is believed that there are fewer than 10 examples of this poster known to exist. The client who sent this in intended to sell it, so we found 2 interested parties and held a makeshift private auction. Ultimately it sold for $13,000.
The Attraction: The Alice in Wonderland dark ride made its debut in Disneyland's Fantasyland on June 14, 1958, nearly three years after the park first opened.
The Poster Design: The poster captures the "Wonderful World of Alice" by highlighting key scenes from the ride, including the Mad Tea Party, the Garden of Live Flowers, the Upside Down Room, and Tulgey Wood.
Visual Style: It features the iconic Disney version of Alice, surrounded by stylized depictions of the characters and settings she encounters throughout the attraction. |
