Olivetti Lettera

Olivetti Lettera (Poster) Antikbar one sheet vintage advertising poster for the iconic Olivetti Lettera 22 portable typewriter. The highly regarded poster design was created by the Italian graphic designer Giovanni Pintori in 1956. The Olivetti Lettera 22 Design & History: The Lettera 22 typewriter itself was designed by Marcello Nizzoli in 1949 or 1950. It became extremely popular due to its portable, functional, and sleek design. Accolades: The typewriter won the prestigious Italian Compasso d'Oro prize in 1954 and was chosen by the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1959 as the best-designed product of the last 100 years. Cultural Impact: It is a celebrated piece of industrial design, with models featured in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Many famous writers and journalists, including Indro Montanelli and Joan Didion, used the Lettera 22. The Poster Design Artist: Giovanni Pintori was Olivetti's art director and put his personal stamp on the company's graphic images for over 30 years.
