Brixham One sheet previously mounted and restored Great Western Railway (GWR) poster for "Brixham Torbay - Sunny Devon" is a vintage travel advertisement that was published for the GWR around 1927. Key Details Artwork: The poster art is attributed to the Canadian artist Gyrth Russell (1882–1963). Russell was an official Canadian war artist during the First World War before moving to England and painting many tranquil scenes of Devon. Context: The GWR produced numerous posters to promote rail travel to coastal resorts in Devon and Cornwall between 1923 and 1947. This specific image depicts a serene and idyllic view of Brixham's picturesque harbour. The fishing trawler shown in the foreground is reportedly the BM27 'The Ibex', known at the time as the fastest trawler in the local fishing fleet.
