| | One sheet, BOLOGNA travel poster by Severino Trematore
This is a vintage travel poster for the city of Bologna, Italy. The poster depicts the city's most famous landmarks, the Two Towers. It was created by the artist Severino Trematore around 1928, and printed by Barabino & Graeve in Genoa.
About the Towers
The two towers are known as the Asinelli Tower and the Garisenda Tower, and they are considered the symbol of Bologna.
The taller tower is the Asinelli Tower, and the shorter, more dramatically leaning one is the Garisenda Tower.
Both towers were built between 1109 and 1119 by noble families competing to show their wealth and power.
During the Middle Ages, Bologna was home to over 100 of these towers, but only about two dozen remain today. |
