The lithograph was created in 1970 and is based on Man Ray's iconic Surrealist painting of the same name from 1932–34.
The work depicts a pair of enormous red lips floating in the sky over the Paris Observatory.
The lips are believed to be inspired by those of Lee Miller, a photographer, model, and Man Ray's former lover.
The painting was created after the end of their relationship and is a well-known symbol of Surrealist art |
