Mansbridge

Re-lined One sheet, travel poster, DEMOUNT, The artwork shown is a poster by the British artist John Mansbridge titled "No. 2; Ashtead" from 1930. It was one of several posters Mansbridge created for the London Passenger Transport Board during the 1930s to promote travel to the countryside. The poster is held in the collection of the London Transport Museum. Mansbridge (1901-1981) was known for a range of artistic work. He was a war artist during World War II, a Head of Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, and a portrait painter whose works are in the National Portrait Gallery and the Imperial War Museum. He also designed mural panels for the Blue Funnel Line shipping company.
