Attraction sized advertising poster by Cappiello, Le Thermogène
is a vintage French advertising poster by the Italian artist Leonetto Cappiello, known as the "father of modern advertising" for his innovative poster designs in the early 20th century.
The poster depicts a figure in a green suit breathing fire while holding two pads to its chest. The French text on the poster translates to: "Le Thermogène generates heat and fights: coughs, rheumatism, side stitches". The product itself was a medicated wadding or poultice designed to generate heat to treat these ailments.
The poster was originally created around 1907-1909 and is a well-known example of Art Deco and commercial art. The design's bold use of color and a striking central figure was a hallmark of Cappiello's style, which aimed to grab the attention of passersby |
