Concert poster, This is a psychedelic concert poster from 1966
for a performance at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco. The poster is known as "The Quick and the Dead" and was designed by artist Wes Wilson.

The central image of a skeleton wearing a cowboy hat and smoking a cigar was adapted by Wilson from an old woodcut by Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada. This poster is historically significant as it is one of the earliest uses of a skeleton to promote the Grateful Dead. |
