Bourin

Bourin Italian 2 panel, Bourin Quinquina is a vintage French advertising poster from 1936, designed by the twin brothers Jacques and Pierre Bellenger. The clever design features a mirrored image: one half shows a person drinking a glass of Bourin Quinquina and smoking, while the other half shows the same person enjoying a meal. The text on the poster reads "Donne la force" and "Force l'appétit," which translates to "Gives strength" and "Strengthens the appetite". The beverage, Quinquina Bourin, is a type of quinquina, an aperitif wine infused with cinchona bark, which contains quinine. Quinine-based drinks became popular in France to combat malaria after military conflicts in North Africa, and their popularity as aperitifs continued even after the medical need subsided.
