Life Is Beautiful

After Locandina, Life Is Beautiful is a 1997 Italian film directed by and starring Roberto Benigni, who co-wrote the screenplay with Vincenzo Cerami. Benigni's real-life wife, Nicoletta Braschi, also stars in the film. The movie tells the story of Guido Orefice (Benigni), a Jewish Italian bookshop owner, and his son Giosuè. During World War II, they are sent to a Nazi concentration camp. To protect his son, Guido makes it seem like their time at the camp is a game to win a tank. The film starts as a romantic comedy showing Guido and Dora (Braschi), then shifts to a drama about a father's love during the Holocaust.
