One sheet, Somewhere in Time
is a 1980 American romantic fantasy drama film directed by Jeannot Szwarc. It is based on Richard Matheson's 1975 novel Bid Time Return, with Matheson also writing the screenplay.
Summary
The film follows Richard Collier (Christopher Reeve), a playwright who becomes captivated by a photograph of 1912 stage actress Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour). Richard uses self-hypnosis to travel back in time to the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, to meet her. Their relationship faces opposition from Elise's manager (Christopher Plummer). The movie is notable for its score by John Barry. Though not initially successful, it has gained a cult following. |
