Gimme Shelter

Mounted One sheet, Gimme Shelter is a 1970 American documentary film directed by Albert and David Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin. The movie chronicles the last weeks of The Rolling Stones' 1969 US tour, which culminated in the disastrous Altamont Free Concert. The film focuses on the events at the Altamont Speedway concert, which was intended to be a "Woodstock of the West" but instead ended in violence and tragedy. The concert's security was provided by the Hells Angels, and a fan named Meredith Hunter was killed during the performance. The movie is named after The Rolling Stones' song "Gimme Shelter" from their 1969 album Let It Bleed. The film includes footage of the band's live performances, behind-the-scenes deal-making for the concert, and the band members' reactions while watching a rough cut of the tragic events
