Japanese, a commemorative Japanese poster for the 1982 re-release of the film
Star Wars (retroactively titled Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope). The film was originally released in Japan in 1978, but this poster was created specifically to celebrate the first theatrical release of the Japanese-dubbed version of the movie on May 15, 1982.
The artwork was created by the acclaimed Japanese sci-fi and fantasy artist Noriyoshi Ohrai. The poster prominently features the Millennium Falcon, with Darth Vader, the Death Star battle, and a montage of the main characters in the lower-left corner. These posters were originally given away in limited numbers to visitors on the first day of the film's release in Japan.
This particular poster design is considered one of the most beautiful and desirable posters for the Star Wars franchise. |
