Jet Boac

Trimmed and mounted One sheet, vintage travel poster for British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) advertising flights to the Caribbean. The poster, titled "The Caribbean Fly There by BOAC," was created around 1953 by an artist named Hayes. The artwork features a woman in a traditional Caribbean dress, dancing, with the "Jet BOAC" logo prominently displayed in the upper right corner. The British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) was a state-owned airline of the United Kingdom, formed in 1939 by a merger of two other airlines. It operated from 1940 until 1974, when it merged with British European Airways (BEA) to form British Airways. The airline was a pioneer in commercial jet travel, being the first to introduce a passenger jet into service in 1952 with the de Havilland Comet. This particular poster was part of a larger campaign to promote travel to exotic destinations and reflected the glamour associated with air travel in the mid-20th century
