One sheet, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman
is a 1958 American science fiction film. The plot follows Nancy Fowler Archer, a wealthy socialite who, after an encounter with a giant alien, grows to a colossal size. Driven by her desire for revenge against her philandering husband, Harry Archer, and his mistress, Honey Parker, she goes on a rampage. The film's iconic poster, which shows the giantess Nancy straddling a freeway and picking up cars, is considered one of the best movie posters of the 1950s, despite the scene not appearing in the final movie.
The film is a B-movie cult classic known for its low budget and often laughable special effects, such as a "flaccid foam rubber hand". Allison Hayes stars as Nancy Fowler Archer, with William Hudson playing her husband Harry, and Yvette Vickers as Honey Parker.
The movie has been remade several times, including a 1993 HBO television film starring Daryl Hannah. A new remake is reportedly being developed by Tim Burton and writer Gillian Flynn. |
