He saves a native from being cooked and names him "Friday," after the character in the book. The two then build a fort to defend themselves from the rest of the cannibals before ultimately escaping on a raft. Release: The film was released on January 19, 1935, and was one of the last black-and-white Mickey Mouse cartoons. Controversy: Due to its depiction of the natives, the cartoon is considered controversial today and is not widely released.
