Halfsheet, art featuring the iconic "Tongue and Lips" logo of the Rolling Stones.
The artwork appears to be a limited edition print or painting, indicated by the numbering "350/500" in the bottom left corner, which suggests it is the 350th piece out of a total edition of 500.
The Rolling Stones' logo was designed in 1970 by art student John Pasche. He was commissioned by Mick Jagger to create a logo for the band's new record label. Pasche drew inspiration from a picture of the Hindu goddess Kali, which Jagger showed him, and also from the size of Jagger's own mouth. The logo made its first official appearance in 1971 on VIP passes for a concert and was later featured on the inner sleeve of the Sticky Fingers album. The original artwork for the logo was later acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. |
