One sheet, Erik Bruun's "Flying Fish" Poster
The image shows a vintage travel poster titled "Destination North of Finland," also known as the "Flying Fish" poster, created by Finnish graphic designer Erik Bruun. The poster was originally designed in 1958 for Finnair, the national airline of Finland, to promote flights to Lapland.
Bruun, an avid salmon fisherman, designed the poster with the concept of an airplane in the form of a flying fish to symbolize fishermen traveling to the north of Finland. Although Finnair initially expressed skepticism about a "fish plane," the poster went on to win the "Poster of the Year" award and became a success. The original posters are highly sought after by collectors of Finnair memorabilia. |
