		One Sheet,
Rome TWA Jets
is a vintage travel poster created by the American artist David Klein for Trans World Airlines (TWA) in the early 1960s. The poster features a member of the Pontifical Swiss Guard, dressed in their iconic yellow, blue, and red uniform, holding a drum with a pontifical emblem. In the background, representations of the ancient Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica with its colonnade are visible.
Klein is well-known for his influential commercial art, particularly the series of travel posters he created for TWA during the "Jet Age" of the 1950s and 1960s. His artistic style is recognized for its bold colors, sleek lines, and modern, often abstract, compositions that blended elements of Modern Art and Pop Art to capture the excitement and glamour of air travel. This particular poster won the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) travel poster contest in 1961. |
