		One sheet, Hold Your Temper
is a 1943 comedy short film starring Edgar Kennedy. It is one of the many short domestic comedies Kennedy made for RKO during the 1930s and 1940s, a series often referred to as "The Average Man".
The plot of the film revolves around Edgar's wife, played by Irene Ryan (later known as Granny on The Beverly Hillbillies), who threatens to leave him due to his notoriously bad temper. Edgar promises to control his anger, but his meddling in-laws conspire to make him lose his cool.
Edgar Kennedy was known for his "slow burn," a comedic device where he would rub his hand over his face and bald head in a deliberate, exasperated expression before finally exploding in frustration. He appeared in over 500 films during his career, including work with other comedy greats like Laurel and Hardy and the Marx Brothers. |
