One sheet, Little Red Riding Hood and the Monsters
is a 1962 Mexican fantasy adventure film, originally titled Caperucita y Pulgarcito contra los monstruos. The film was directed by Roberto RodrÃguez and released in the United States in 1965 by K. Gordon Murray. Murray was known as the "King of the Kiddie Matinee" for re-editing and dubbing foreign children's movies for American audiences.
The film is a sequel in a trilogy that also includes Little Red Riding Hood (1960) and Little Red Riding Hood and Friends (1961). The plot centers on Little Red Riding Hood and Tom Thumb as they embark on a quest to save their friends, the Big Bad Wolf and an Ogre, from the Wicked Witch Queen and her army of monsters.
The movie is described as a bizarre and low-budget mix of fairy tale and gothic horror, featuring monsters such as a vampire, a Frankenstein monster, a carrot monster, and a killer robot. The English-dubbed version is noted for its off-sync and surreal songs, with Little Red Riding Hood's singing voice often dubbed by an adult woman |
