Budapest

Mounted One Sheet, Turi-Polgár István (1884–1980) designed this vintage poster for the Budapest International Fair, or "Messe Budapest," which was held from April 29 to May 9, 1938. The poster is a classic example of Hungarian Art Deco, a style that was popular during the interwar years. It features a lighthouse-like structure with an illuminated top and a bridge at its base, set against a dark blue night sky with a reddish-orange moon. The text "Messe Budapest" is prominently displayed in bold, sans-serif font, with the date "29. APRIL - 9. MAI 1938" below it. The Budapest International Fair was a significant economic and tourism event in Hungary, which had been developing since the 1920s. The fair often highlighted the city's attributes, such as its thermal springs. The event was a major part of the city's economic and cultural life during that period.
