Mocambique Angola

Mounted One sheet, Moçambique Angola is a vintage travel poster designed to promote tourism in the former Portuguese colonies of Angola and Mozambique. The poster's text, "Exotic Africa a Holiday You'll Never Forget," is visible on some versions of the design. The poster features an abstract, mid-century modern style with a green background and two stylized figures, possibly representing African tribesmen holding shields and spears. It was issued by Aftour, the African Regional Tourist Conference for Africa South of the Equator. While some sources date the poster to around 1958, reproductions are available for purchase from various online retailers. The poster's creation took place during a period of significant change and conflict in the region. The Angolan War of Independence began in 1961, and the Mozambican War of Independence began in 1964, both seeking to end Portuguese colonial rule. Both countries eventually gained independence in 1975.
