Cunard To USA

Mounted One sheet, vintage travel poster for the Cunard Line, promoting its transatlantic service to the USA. The poster features a large four-funnel ocean liner, which is identified as the RMS Aquitania in various sources. The ship is shown sailing towards the viewer with the text "CUNARD TO U.S.A. The Fastest Ocean Service in the World" at the bottom of the image. The poster was designed by artist Odin Rosenvinge and is believed to have been created around 1914. The Aquitania took its maiden voyage in May of that year, but was soon requisitioned by the British government for use in World War I, making the civilian service period depicted in the poster quite short. The Cunard Line, founded in 1840, has a long history of operating some of the most famous ships in the world and is known for its "golden age" of luxury cruising.
