Ruanda-Urundi
was a former German East Africa territory that was ruled by Belgium as a League of Nations Mandate and later a United Nations Trust Territory from 1916 to 1962. It became the two independent nations of Rwanda and Burundi in 1962. The Belgian Congo, now the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was a Belgian colony from 1908 to 1960. |
