One sheet, This poster is the iconic "Style B" or "Hildebrandt" poster for the 1977 film
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.
It was created by twin artists Greg and Tim Hildebrandt. Originally commissioned for the British release of the film, the brothers had a very tight deadline and completed the painting in just 36 hours. The poster's composition was based on the "Style A" poster by Tom Jung, but the Hildebrandts gave it a more vibrant, "comic book-y" style.
Although the Hildebrandt poster was ultimately replaced for the main theatrical release in the UK, it became one of the first and most widely distributed commercial Star Wars posters in the United States, appearing on t-shirts and other merchandise. Original versions of this poster are considered rare and highly sought after by collectors. |
