Movie Details Release Year: 1946 Director: Jaime Salvador Plot: The movie is a science fiction comedy about an American soldier (Keaton) who is shipwrecked in Mexico after the end of World War II. He is mistaken for a serial killer and, to avoid jail, agrees to be a guinea pig on an experimental rocket flight. He and two others are launched into space, but they land in an isolated part of Mexico and mistakenly believe they have landed on the moon. Production Notes: This was Buster Keaton's only Mexican film and his last starring role in a feature film. The film was shot in Spanish, and Keaton, who did not speak the language, had limited dialogue and reused gags from his earlier silent films. It was produced by Alexander Salkind, who would later produce the Superman films. Reception: The film has a mixed reputation, with many critics considering it to be one of the lowest points in Keaton's career due to its plot and production quality.
