ANTIQUE LAMPSHADE

PIERCED PAPER AND SILK, BRASS RINGS
Entire shade was humidified in a chamber for 24 hours and then disassembled. The brass rings and silk were saved. The outer layer was separated from its backing paper, de-acidified until the rinse water was clear, and then mounted to a sheet of medium-weight white art paper using a combination PVA and synthetic wheat paste. Holes were filled using paper and a filling compound. Restoration was performed using colored pencil.
