Star Wars (later subtitled Episode IV - A New Hope). The poster, known as "Style A," was created by artist Tom Jung, and is sometimes referred to as the "Tom Jung poster". It depicts the main characters, including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo, standing in a heroic pose, with a large, ghostly image of Darth Vader looming behind them. The top of the poster features the iconic tagline, "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...". This is one of several posters that were created for the film's initial release.
The film, created by George Lucas, was a massive success that launched one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time. It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won 6. The film's success led Lucas to expand the story into a multi-trilogy saga. |
