Fine art print by Roy Lichtenstein, silkscreen, I Love Liberty
is a 1982 screenprint by the artist Roy Lichtenstein. The piece reimagines the Statue of Liberty in Lichtenstein's signature Pop Art style, characterized by bold lines, a limited color palette, and the use of Ben-Day dots.
The print was created in conjunction with a national television special celebrating American values and ideals, which was taped on February 22, 1982, and broadcast on March 21, 1982. The special was organized by People for the American Way, a non-profit advocacy organization founded by television producer Norman Lear. The work is described as both a celebration and an interrogation of American ideals, taking an iconic symbol and transforming it into a commentary on Americanism, freedom, and democracy.
The original edition of this screenprint was limited to 250 copies, plus 73 artist's proofs. It was published by the artist and People for the American Way |
