Shafts Big Score

After One sheet, Shaft's Big Score! is a 1972 blaxploitation action-crime film and the second installment in the Shaft franchise. Directed by Gordon Parks, the film stars Richard Roundtree as private detective John Shaft. Film Details Director: Gordon Parks Writer: Ernest Tidyman Starring: Richard Roundtree, Moses Gunn, Drew Bundini Brown, Joseph Mascolo, Julius Harris, and Joe Santos Synopsis: John Shaft investigates the death of a friend, an insurance salesman and mortician who was also involved in a numbers racket. The investigation leads him into a war between mobsters and pimps vying for control of the business and a hidden stash of cash. The film culminates in a long chase sequence involving cars, boats, and a helicopter. Music: The score was composed and performed by director Gordon Parks, as Isaac Hayes, who won an Oscar for the theme to the original Shaft, did not return for the sequel. Hayes did contribute one song, "Type Thang". Budget & Box Office: The film was produced on a budget of approximately $1.978 million and grossed $10 million at the box office.
