Quad, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three
is a 1974 American crime thriller film directed by Joseph Sargent. The image is a poster for the original film, which is based on a 1973 novel of the same name by John Godey.
The film's plot involves a group of armed men who hijack a New York City subway train and hold the passengers for ransom. The main character, transit police lieutenant Zachary Garber (played by Walter Matthau), must negotiate with the hijackers to save the hostages.
The film has been remade twice:
A made-for-television film in 1998.
A 2009 film titled The Taking of Pelham 123, starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta. This version updated the plot to include modern technology and changed some character details. For example, the ransom was increased from $1 million to $10 million. |
