Small poster, an advertisement for the band
The Cramps, a pioneering American rock band known for their unique blend of punk rock and rockabilly, a subgenre they helped popularize called "psychobilly". The band was formed in 1976 and was active until 2009. The poster features the band's name in a distinct dripping font and includes the text "THROUGH THEM ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE! BELIEVED LOST TO THE WORLD!! LOTC Can Now Be YOURS!!" This text refers to their 1980 album Songs the Lord Taught Us, which is sometimes abbreviated as LOTC.
The Cramps consisted of the husband-and-wife duo of singer Lux Interior and guitarist Poison Ivy, who were the only permanent members throughout the band's history. The band's image was defined by a combination of campy humor, sexual innuendo, and retro horror/sci-fi B-movie iconography. |
