Menu,
vintage menu from the Red Wagon Inn
, one of the original restaurants at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The Red Wagon Inn
was one of the park's largest restaurants when it opened on July 17, 1955.
The restaurant's name and logo, a red delivery wagon, were based on its sponsor, the Swift & Co. meat packing company. The menu featured a variety of meat-centric dishes, including roast prime rib, New York cut sirloin steak, grilled pork chops, and roast turkey. The interior of the restaurant was designed by Walt Disney's wife, Lillian Disney.
In 1965, after the Swift & Co. sponsorship ended, the Red Wagon Inn was closed for a renovation and reopened as the Plaza Inn
, which remains one of the most popular restaurants at Disneyland today. The original Red Wagon Inn's rooster weather vane is still located on top of the Plaza Inn building. A tribute to the original restaurant, a food cart named Little Red Wagon, still operates on Main Street, U.S.A., selling corn dogs. |
