Film Summary
In the film, Bond investigates the deaths of British agents, which leads him to confront a Harlem drug lord known as Mr. Big, who is also Dr. Kananga, a Caribbean dictator cultivating opium poppies. Departing from the usual Bond formula, the plot centers on drug trafficking and incorporates themes and settings inspired by blaxploitation films, featuring African American cultural centers like Harlem and New Orleans. Gloria Hendry played the first African American Bond girl to have a romantic relationship with 007 in the series. The title song was written by Paul and Linda McCartney and performed by Wings. |
