One sheet vintage poster for Braathens SAFE
, a Norwegian airline that operated from 1946 until it merged with SAS in 2004.
The poster, titled "Braathens SAFE Passengers, Freight, Mail," was designed by Axel Andersen in 1947. It features two of the airline's Douglas C-54 Skymaster aircraft, one of which was named "Norse Explorer". The design shows a world map and contrasting scenes of a tropical landscape and a Nordic landscape, with one of Braathens' ships visible in the water. The poster is considered a rare find and provides a glimpse into the "golden age of aviation".
Braathens SAFE, which stood for South American and Far East Airtransport A/S, was originally founded to fly supplies and crew to its parent shipping company's vessels around the world. |
