American Relief

Mounted Small poster, vintage World War II fundraising poster titled " American Relief for Italy" with the tagline "PLEASE HELP". The poster was created as a campaign by the National War Fund to provide aid to Italy during and after the war. The National War Fund was a philanthropic federation established in 1943 to raise money for various war-related needs. It was announced by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and led by Winthrop W. Aldrich, with aid to Italy provided from 1944 under the guidance of Myron C. Tayler and Judge Juvenal Marchisio. This particular poster features a black and white photograph of a man carrying a child, with bold red and white lettering. After the war, a significant portion of Italy's population was in urgent need, with millions left homeless and destitute, and the countryside laid to waste.
