Pow Wow

Pow Wow Concert Poster Donovan was a musical guest at the "Pow-Wow: A Gathering of the Tribes for a Human Be-In" festival, a counterculture event that took place in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, on January 14, 1967. The event is widely regarded as a precursor to the "Summer of Love". This iconic poster for the event was created by artist Rick Griffin and is considered one of his earliest and most important pieces. It featured a list of performers and speakers, including The Grateful Dead, Timothy Leary, and Allen Ginsberg, in addition to Donovan. The central image of a Native American on horseback is a pen-and-ink drawing by Frederic Remington titled "Friendly Scout Signalling the Main Column," which Griffin adapted for the poster. The poster is a sought-after collectible and has had multiple printings.
