El Monstruo De Piedres Blancas

After One sheet movie poster for the 1959 American science-fiction monster film, The Monster of Piedras Blancas. The film was directed by Irvin Berwick and stars Les Tremayne, Forrest Lewis, and Jeanne Carmen. Key Information Plot The story is set in the small, sleepy California seaside town of Piedras Blancas, where the local lighthouse keeper, Sturges, has a dangerous secret: he has been feeding a prehistoric sea creature in a nearby cave with meat scraps. When the food supply runs out, the monster begins to terrorize the town, leaving a trail of decapitated bodies. A local scientist identifies a scale from the creature as belonging to a "diplovertebron," a presumed-extinct amphibious reptile. The monster eventually fixates on Sturges's daughter, Lucy, leading to a climactic confrontation at the lighthouse. Production The film was made on a low budget of $29,000 and was influenced by the earlier film Creature from the Black Lagoon. The monster costume was created by Jack Kevan, who had also worked on the Creature from the Black Lagoon suit at Universal-International. Release The movie was released in the United States on April 22, 1959, as a double feature with the film Okefenokee.
